Diagnostics & Repair

When your system fails, you need someone who knows why.

An estimated 75% of solar products distributed across Africa have stopped working. Not because the hardware was bad — but because of wrong inverter settings, missing earthing, undersized batteries, and installers who left without configuring anything. The Uganda market is flooded with counterfeit batteries filled with sand and panels with false capacity ratings. We don't guess. We measure, test, and find the actual cause.
01

Site visit & visual inspection — cable routing, termination quality, physical damage, environmental exposure.

02

Measurement & testing — voltage, current, earth continuity, battery state of health, PV string output.

03

Inverter & controller review — settings audit, firmware, charge profiles, generator interaction.

04

Root cause report — written finding, cause, and recommended corrective action before any work is done.

05

Repair & verification — fix the cause, not the symptom. Post-repair test confirms the system is running correctly.

Our Process

From first call to clean handover

Every NilePhase install follows the same four steps — whether it's a 4kVA home hybrid or a 30kVA commercial site. No corners cut because a system is "small."

  1. Site assessment

We visit the site, measure your actual loads, inspect your roof or ground space, and audit your electrical setup. Nothing gets quoted from a phone call.

    • Load measurement & usage profiling
    • Roof, space & shading survey
    • Electrical safety inspection
  2. Engineered design

System sizing is calculated to your real consumption — not picked from a brochure. You get a written proposal showing battery autonomy, panel yield, and equipment selection.

    • Load-matched system sizing
    • Equipment spec by performance, not margin
    • Written proposal & single-line drawing
  3. Clean installation

Neat trunking, labelled cabling, proper grounding, and protection devices sized correctly. Clean workmanship you can show a technical inspector without worry.

    • Structured trunking & cable management
    • Earthing & protection fully installed
    • Labelled & documented as we go
  4. Commissioning & handover

System is commissioned under test — correct inverter settings, verified grounding, and a written report. You get a settings sheet and equipment list on handover.

Why NilePhase Energy · Best Solar Installer Uganda

Why clients trust us with their power

Uganda's solar market has a trust problem — fake batteries, abandoned installations, companies that don't pick up the phone after payment. Here's how we're different.

Engineered, not guessed

Most solar failures in Uganda are sizing errors — undersized batteries, wrong string configurations, inverters on factory defaults. We calculate your actual load, size battery autonomy to your usage pattern, and select equipment by spec, not price margin.

Documented on every job

Most buyers in Uganda can't verify what they paid for — no settings sheet, no commissioning report, no record of what was installed. We give you written documentation on every job: equipment list, inverter settings, earthing confirmation, and a handover pack you can reference if anything changes.

We fix what others installed

A large part of our work is repairing systems that other companies installed and abandoned. Wrong inverter settings, missing earthing, counterfeit batteries that died in year one. We give you a written fault report before touching anything — and we don't replace equipment that still works.

Responsive after handover

After-sales abandonment is the #1 complaint in Uganda's solar market. Research shows it's the single biggest factor in whether customers recommend or warn others. We pick up the phone. We come back. Problems get investigated and fixed — not ignored.

Common Questions

Solar in Uganda — what people ask

Straight answers. No sales pitch.

How much does solar installation cost in Uganda? +

It depends on system size and battery chemistry. A 1–3 kVA home system typically runs UGX 4–10 million. A 5–10 kVA business system runs UGX 15–40 million. Large commercial (15 kVA+) starts from UGX 50 million. We provide itemised quotes after a proper load analysis — not a guess from a price list.

Can NilePhase Energy repair a solar system installed by another company? +

Yes — and it's a large part of what we do. We assess the system, give you a written fault report, and fix the actual problem. We have no incentive to replace equipment that doesn't need replacing.

Why is my solar inverter not working? +

The most common causes are: wrong inverter settings, missing or poor earthing, undersized battery bank, degraded battery cells, or a faulty charge controller. Most solar problems in Uganda are configuration or workmanship issues, not failed hardware — which means they're fixable without expensive parts.

Is solar cheaper than Yaka (UMEME) electricity in Uganda? +

For businesses running daytime loads — yes, significantly. Ugandan firms report spending UGX 30M+ per month on generator fuel alone during the current power crisis. A properly sized solar hybrid system amortises over 5–8 years while Yaka tariffs keep climbing. For homes, a hybrid solar + Yaka setup cuts bills by 50–70% while eliminating outage disruption. We run a cost comparison as part of every quote.

How do I avoid buying a fake or substandard solar system? +

The Uganda solar market is flooded with counterfeit batteries and panels — some batteries are literally filled with sand. The Uganda Solar Energy Association estimates 3–4 out of every 10 solar products on the market are substandard. To protect yourself: insist on an itemised quote with specific brand names and model numbers, ask for a written commissioning report, and choose a company that provides after-sales support in writing — not just verbally. NilePhase uses verified equipment from brands like Deye, Victron, Luminous and Growatt, and documents every installation.

Which areas in Uganda do you serve? +

NilePhase Energy is headquartered in Kampala and installs solar and hybrid power systems across Uganda. We regularly work in Jinja, Mukono, Entebbe, Wakiso, Mbarara, Gulu, Mbale, Masaka and Fort Portal, and we have experience deploying remote-site systems in the Northern and Western regions. For installations outside Greater Kampala we schedule a site visit first, include travel and accommodation in the itemised quote, and commission the system on site before we leave. Call or WhatsApp us with your district and we will confirm coverage and typical lead time within 24 hours.

What happens if my inverter fails after installation? +

Every NilePhase install ships with a written handover pack that lists the inverter model, firmware version and configured settings, so any fault can be diagnosed quickly. If your inverter fails within the manufacturer warranty window (typically 5–10 years depending on brand), we handle the claim, swap-out and reconfiguration for you. Out of warranty, we give you an honest fault report — most Ugandan inverter failures are configuration, earthing or battery issues rather than a dead inverter, and a repair is far cheaper than a replacement. We stay reachable by phone and WhatsApp for the life of the system.

Can you install a solar system that works with my existing generator? +

Yes. Generator integration is a standard part of our commercial and industrial installations and increasingly common on larger homes. We use hybrid inverters that accept a generator input and automatically prioritise solar, then battery, then generator — so the generator only starts when it is genuinely needed. We program generator-start thresholds, cool-down times and charging limits to match your specific generator, and we can add an Automatic Transfer Switch where the site requires one. Clients who previously ran generators 8–12 hours a day typically see generator runtime drop by 70–90% after a NilePhase hybrid install.

Should I size for load-shedding backup or full off-grid? +

In Uganda the right answer is almost always a hybrid — sized for daily use from solar, with battery storage to cover the most common outage length on your feeder, and Yaka or generator as a fallback. Going fully off-grid means doubling battery capacity to cover multi-day low-sun periods and pushes budget up sharply with diminishing benefit. Going too small means the system trips out during a real outage and clients feel let down. We start every sizing conversation by measuring your actual evening load and asking how long the longest outages last on your line — then we size the battery bank to that reality, not to a brochure number.
